Welcome to the site devoted to the welfare of Moscow's homeless animals

Working with associated animal shelters on a non-profit basis, our first aim is to help find new homes for DOGS and CATS that have been rescued from the streets of or elsewhere in Moscow and to support a small number of shelters through donations (dog and cat food, bowls, blankets, cat litter and litter boxes, toys, vitamins, and funds needed for surgery and medications).

Some (but not all) of the animals that are up for adoption have been examined by a vet, neutered and vaccinated. However, most animal shelters in Moscow do not have the necessary funds to provide free vaccinations and neutering operations, and it is therefore your responsibility to ensure that the pet you are adopting is healthy and/or to provide it with medical treatment if and as required.

IMPORTANT: игратьNK_E--> Moscow Animals does not run any shelters in Russia! As the shelters we support operate at maximum capacity, it is not possible for us to offer any shelter space! If you have found a homeless dog or cat and would like us to help you find a home for it, we will post the information on our website. All you need to do is e-mail us the text you would like us to publish with your contact details and separate .jpg or .gif files with photos of the animal you have rescued. We cannot, however, guarantee that the animal will find a home through our website and cannot be of assistance if a home is not found in time!

To stand the best chance of finding a new home, you should offer the animal temporary shelter at your home or elsewhere (note: Moscow Animals cannot assist with this), have the dog or cat checked  by a vet and, if possible, vaccinated. We do not advocate profiteering from stray adoption and cannot publish information on animals that are for sale on this website. We also do not publish information about animals that were born due to the animal's owner not having neutered the parent(s)!

Our second aim is to promote respect and compassion for animals and to encourage reponsible pet ownership. We strongly advocate NEUTERING as one of the hallmarks of responsible pet ownership and the most humane way to reduce the stray population.

This website also has a large ADVICE SECTION where you can find information on the import and export of pets to/from the Russian Federation, contact details for vets and vetarinary clinics, pet stores and pet sitters in Moscow, as well as advice on how to care for your pet.

We believe that animals, as living creatures, are entitled to legal protection, moral and ethical consideration and have a value beyond financial measurement. Our goal is to achieve a wider recognition and acceptance of these guiding principles, while working to alleviate the plight of Moscow's street animals by finding homes for as many of them as possible with responsible, caring, and loving owners.

If you would like to offer a home to one of our animals, need advice or information about an animal welfare matter, or would like to support our work, we would love to hear from you! Please CONTACT US by e-mail if you have any questions, comments or suggestions!
