Expat veterinarian and dog trainer Astrid has been working with the dogs that live at Katya's shelter since she arrived in Moscow in the fall of 2008 and has done an absolutely fabulous job! All of the dogs at the shelter are now trained to go for walks - something many of them have never done before, and they really want to practice more often!
We have a small group of volunteers who walk the dogs on weekends (which you are most welcome to join, but the dogs would love to go for walks during the week as well. If you have some spare time - either on weekdays or weekends - and would like to join our volunteers, please contact us.
Please provide your name, contact phone number(s) and also let us know which languages you speak so that we can put you in touch with one of our existing volunteers.
The shelter is located in the city center very close to metro Kurskaya. By the way, you do not have to speak Russian to walk the dogs - they are all multilingual ...
We are also ALWAYS looking for volunteers to "man" tables at IWC and AWO coffees and various other events we take part in, so if you can help we would love to hear from you!
Here are some photos - see how much fun this is? You can find a lot more dog walking photos on our Facebook page! Become our fan on FB to stay informed of our news.
